About Nabin
Trekking Guide & Porter | Manaslu Region, Nepal
From the Budhi Gandaki Valley to the Himalayan Trails
Nabin Lamichhane is one of the young and dedicated members of the Touch The Himalaya guiding team, with a deep personal connection to the Manaslu region. Born and raised in Gorkha District along the Budhi Gandaki corridor, Nabin grew up in the very landscapes that today attract trekkers from around the world.
His childhood was closely connected with the mountains and villages of the Manaslu trekking region. He spent his early years fishing in the Budhi Gandaki River, taking care of goats on the hillsides, and walking the same trails that form part of the famous Manaslu Circuit Trek. Life in the mountains taught him from an early age how to live with nature, understand the changing seasons, and appreciate the simple but rich lifestyle of Himalayan communities.
As he grew older, Nabin began his professional journey in the trekking industry as a porter. Carrying trekking equipment along the trails gave him valuable firsthand experience of the Manaslu route. Step by step, he became familiar with the villages, trails, rivers, mountain conditions, accommodation, and the challenges trekkers may encounter at different elevations.
His experience as a porter also helped him understand trekking from another perspective. He knows what it means to walk long hours carrying a load, cross mountain bridges, climb steep trails, and adapt to changing weather and terrain. This practical experience has become an important part of his development as a trekking guide.
With time, dedication, and a desire to learn, Nabin progressed from porter to trekking guide. Today, he enjoys sharing his knowledge of the Manaslu region with travelers while helping them experience the mountains safely and comfortably.
A Local Guide with a Personal Connection
What makes Nabin special is his genuine connection with the Manaslu region. The mountains, rivers, forests, villages, and trails are not simply places he learned about through guiding—they are part of the environment in which he grew up.
His knowledge of the Budhi Gandaki Valley and Manaslu trekking route allows him to share stories and local perspectives that visitors may not find in guidebooks. He understands the traditional way of life of the communities along the trail and enjoys introducing trekkers to the local culture, landscapes, and everyday life of the Himalayan villages.
For Nabin, guiding is more than simply leading people from one village to another. He enjoys meeting people from different countries, learning about their cultures and experiences, and helping them discover the beauty of his home region.
