Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project and Future Changes
The Budhi Gandaki River is also the site of the planned Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project, one of Nepal’s largest hydroelectric projects. Once completed, the project will create a massive reservoir in the river valley.

The planned reservoir is expected to form a large lake approximately eleven times larger than Phewa Lake. This transformation will significantly change the river landscape and surrounding villages.
The Full Supply Level (FSL) of the reservoir is designed at approximately 540 meters above sea level, which corresponds to the elevation near the confluence of the Budhi Gandaki River and the Ankhu Khola. This confluence area lies between the districts of Gorkha District and Dhading District.
Until the reservoir is completed, rafting on the Budhi Gandaki offers a rare opportunity to experience the natural river before it changes permanently.

In addition to the Budhi Gandaki River rafting adventure, we also organize a variety of other exciting trips across Nepal, including one-day rafting on the Trishuli River, adrenaline-filled rafting on the Bhote Koshi River, and remote wilderness expeditions on the Karnali River.
