About Pasang
Pasang Chhopen Sherpa is one of the team members at Touch The Himalaya, and the eastern Himalaya is where his story begins. He grew up in the Kanchenjunga region, so the trails, villages and high ridges of Nepal's far east are home ground to him rather than a route on a map. That local knowledge shapes every itinerary he leads, from choosing the right teahouse to reading the weather on a pass.
His trekking experience spans three of Nepal's classic regions. He has led and walked routes in the Manaslu region, across the Annapurna trails, and through the Everest region, so he understands how each area differs in pace, altitude and culture. That breadth makes him a calm, adaptable leader wherever the journey goes.
Eastern Himalaya is where he is most at home. If your plans point toward Kanchenjunga or the quieter trails of Nepal's east, Pasang is the member of our team you want beside you. He pairs genuine mountain experience with the warmth and patience that make a long trek feel effortless.
Within our team, Pasang takes on the role of trekking guide, and he is often the person guests remember long after the walking is over. He looks after the practical rhythm of a day on the trail, keeping an eye on how everyone is coping with the altitude and the distance, and he is just as comfortable sharing a meal and a story in the evening as he is making decisions on a exposed section of path. Because he grew up in a mountain community, he moves through villages and lodges with an ease that puts people at rest, and he treats the families and places we pass through with real respect.
For guests heading east, that combination matters. Pasang knows the region not as a single route but as a living landscape of seasons, harvests and local custom, and he brings that understanding into the way he guides. He is patient with first-time trekkers and honest with experienced ones, and he would rather adjust a plan for the comfort and safety of the group than push on for the sake of a schedule. If you would like to walk with Pasang, our team can tell you more about the journeys he leads and how to plan your time in Nepal's far east.
“The eastern Himalaya is my home, and I know its trails through experience and through the stories of the communities who live there. I love helping guests discover this quieter side of Nepal and see the mountains through the eyes of someone who grew up here.” - Pasang Chhopen Sherpa
