Our Story Roots in the Manaslu Region
Manaslu is not just a trekking destination for us, it is our home. We, (Manaslu Guides Nepal Team) are born, raised and from different small villages in the Manaslu region, surrounded by high mountains, deep valleys, and a close-knit community. Life here was simple but demanding, teaching us resilience, respect for nature, and the importance of supporting one to another.
From a young age, we watched trekkers pass through our trails, carrying stories from distant countries. Those early encounters planted a seed one that would later grow into a lifelong journey in tourism.
A Journey from Porter to Guide
Learning the Mountains Step by Step
Most of (Manaslu Guide’s) Our Team’s professional journey began as a trekking porter, carrying heavy loads across rugged Himalayan trails. It is physically demanding work, but it opened doors to the world beyond our Manaslu village, we learned foreign cultures, languages, and the expectations of international travelers.
With experience, dedication, and trust from trekkers, I Founder of Manaslu Guides Nepal Mr. Madan became a licensed trekking guide, leading journeys across Nepal’s Himalayas. Years later, this experience led me to establish Touch The Himalaya Treks and Expedition, which has now been serving travelers since 2010
The Earthquake 2015, That Changed Everything
When the Mountains Trembled
In 2015, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal. The epicenter was close to my hometown, and the Manaslu region was among the hardest hit. Thousands of lives were lost, homes collapsed, livestock perished, and entire communities were left in deep sorrow. Families lost relatives, farms, and shelters. The pain was not only physical, it was emotional and long-lasting.
During this difficult time, I actively supported my community by helping distribute emergency supplies, arranging temporary shelters, and assisting in health camps. In the midst of tragedy, I witnessed extraordinary strength and unity among our Manaslu people.
A Vision of Hope Through Tourism
Turning Pain into the Purpose
As life slowly returned to normal, one thought stayed with me that is “tourism could help heal our community” When travelers come to Manaslu, they don’t just walk trails, they interact with locals, share stories, and bring hope and income. This human connection helps erase sorrow and restores dignity and pride. From this belief, Manaslu Guides Nepal was born. A trekking company created by locals, for locals, and for travelers who seek authentic Himalayan experiences.
