Trekking Destination: Tsum Valley And Manaslu Larke La Pass

Duration: 19 days

Day 1: Kathmandu to Machhakhola (9-10 hours drive- 730 meters)

This includes several hours of drive with 2-3 hours of trek where you will walk along the Budi Gandaki river, passing through the villages and diverse landscapes along with crossing several suspension bridges.

Day 2: Machhakhola to Jagat (6-7hours -1340 meters)

This trek includes passing through picturesque landscapes both uphill and downhill sections. Tatopani is the rest point on the way from where we will pass through the settlements like Dhobhan and Thulo Dunga.

Day 3: Jagat to Lokpa (6-7 hours -2240 meters)

Day 4: Lokpa to Chumling (5 hours -2390 meters)

This day of trekking includes the trek through lush forests and charming villages where we rest on Pork village. Crossing the suspension bridges, we will eventually reach Chumling.

Day 5: Chumling to Chhaikampar (6 hours -3030 meters)

This trek lets you to pass through the village of Gho which is known for Tibetan-style houses and friendly locals.

Day 6: Chhaikampar to Mu Gompa (6 hours - 3700 meters)

This trial passes you through the village of Lamagaon and eventually reach Nile(known for its ancient Piren Phu, a pigeon cave and a Tibetan Buddhist called Ramchen Gompa).

Day 7: Mu Gompa to Chhhaikampar (5 hours -3130 meters)

This day we descend retracing the trial back to Nile enjoying the scenic views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 8: Chhaikampar to Gompa Lungdang (7 hours -3400 meters)

This day makes you reach to gompa lungdang a resting place.

Day 9: Hike to Ganesh Himal Base Camp 4900 meters then back to Gompa Lungdang (8-9 hours - 3400 meters)

This day we reach to the Ganesh Himal Base Camp, standing on the elevation of 7,422 meters.

Day 10: Gompa Lungdang to Ripchet (4 hours -2470 meters)

While returning we take an alternative path towards ricochet which gives a new and rewarding perspective on the landscape.

Day 11: Ripchet to Deng (6 hours -1860 meters)

Now our attention refocuses on the trial through Manaslu Region and ultimate goal of Larkya La pass.

Day 12: Deng to Namrung (7 hours -2360 meters)

This trek includes the slight gaining of altitude steadily as we trial by the tumbling white water of river close at hand.
Day 13: Namrung to Samagaun (7 hours -3250 meters)

This day we pass through forest areas in an ascending way where the landscape becomes more open and get closer to the high mountain peaks.

Day 14: Acclimatization day hike to Manaslu Base Camp (4980 meters)

This trek take you around the eighth highest mountain of the world with a height of 8,136 meters. THe base camp trek, standing at an elevation of 4800 meters is our destined place where we enjoy the scenery.

Day 15: Samagaun to Samdo (3 hours -3860 meters)

This is a prominent village on the Manaslu Circuit, which offers stunning views of manaslu and other surrounding peaks.

Day 16: Samdo to Dharmasala (5 hours - 4460 meters)

This day we are ascending to the forests where we trek along the Budhi Gandaki River passing through high alpine forest.

Day 17: Dharamshala to Larekya La descending to Bhimthang (8 hours- 3590 meters)

Dharamsala is a base for trekkers before crossing the Larkya La pass which involves a steep ascent through rocky and snowy terrain.

Day 18: Bhimthang to Dharapani (8 hours - 1960 meters)

The trek includes descent through diverse landscapes, including forests, meadows and villages.

Day 19: Drive back to Kathmandu (12 hours - 1400 meters)

This is often a day to rest on a drive where we enjoy the scenic beauty retracing our feet back to the starting place kathmandu.

Itinerary

DAY-01: Drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola 8-9 hrs of walking with 157Km. (930m/3051ft.)


This includes  8 to 9 hours of drive where you will drive along the Budi Gandaki river, passing through the villages and diverse landscapes along with crossing several suspension bridges.

DAY-02: Trek from Machhakhola to Jagat 6-7 hrs waling of 17 Km. (Altitude:1340m/4396ft.)


This trek includes passing through picturesque landscapes both uphill and downhill sections. Tatopani is the rest point on the way from where we will pass through the settlements like Dhobhan and Thulo Dunga.

DAY-03: Trek from Jagat to Lokpa 6 to7 hrs walking about 14Km with Max. Altitude:2240m/7349ft.


Today's route consists mostly of visually arresting suspension bridges as we gradually ascend the trail via multiple waterfalls to the Gurung village of Philim and its picturesque surroundings. From there, the trail climbs once more before splitting off into Tsum Valley. As we approach Lopka to finish the day on the trek, the impressive sight of Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal catches our attention.

DAY-04: Trek From Lokpa to Chumling 5-6 hrs walking with about 8Km in Maximum Altitude-2386m/7828ft


The mysterious Buddhist valley greets us with lush vegetation and three additional suspension bridges. After a short but steep ascent, the remainder of our journey to Chumling is pretty easy, allowing us to unwind and enjoy the scenery.

DAY-05: Trek from Chumling to Chhaikampar, walk about 4 to 5 hours with 11 km


During the day, we gradually ascend along the Shiar Khola, a small tributary of the Budhi Gandaki, with breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal as our backdrop. A small Tibetan monastery near the path serves as a reminder of the valley's strong Tibetan influence. Our arrival at Chhaikampar, the biggest settlement in the valley, marks the end of the day.11 km in 4–5 hours.

DAY-06: Chhaikampar to Mu Gompa 6-7 hrs, distance about 15Km in Altitude of 3700m/12139ft


Today We follow the ancient trade route to Tibet, passing by chortens, stupas, mani walls, monasteries, and nunneries, all of which serve as reminders of our close cultural and historical ties to Nepal's enigmatic northern neighbor. The tributary still serves as our guide as we venture deeper and higher into the valley. This is why Tsum Valley is known as "Little Tibet." One of the trek's cultural highlights, the monastery of Mu Gompa is where we will spend the night and experience the hospitality of the resident monks. Before arriving, we can take a short break to explore Milarepa Cave.

DAY-07: Trek back from Mu Gompa to Chhaikampar 5-6 hrs/15Km. in 3130m


From Mu Gompa, we retrace our steps to Lar village and then return to Chhaikampar by another route via Rachen Gompa, which is the location of the most renowned nunnery in the valley.

DAY-08: Chhaikampar to Gompa Lungdang (7 hours walking -3400 meters with the distance of 12Km.)


We start our day with a descent to the village of Dumji, from where we take a sharp trail through thick forests of pine and rhododendron to Gompa Lungdang and its peaceful monastery below Ganesh Himal. This day makes you reach to gompa lungdang a resting place.

DAY-09: Hike to Ganesh Himal Base Camp 4900 meters then back to Gompa Lungdang (8-9 hours - 3400 meters)


After a four-hour climb, or maybe a little less, we reach the base camp and are rewarded with some of the best views of the surrounding alpine wilderness and the soaring Ganesh Himal. We take our time admiring the view and then head back down the trail to Gompa Lungdang. This day we reach to the Ganesh Himal Base Camp, standing on the elevation of 7,422 meters.

Day 10: Gompa Lungdang to Ripchet 4-5 hours walking, 2470 meters which comes about 10Km.


We take the detour on the way back to Ripchet, which offers us an exciting and novel look at the terrain as we spend the night there.While returning we take an alternative path towards ricochet which gives a new and rewarding perspective on the landscape.

DAY-11: Trek from Ripchet to Deng (6 hours -1860 meters which comes about 20 KM.


Our focus shifts back to the trail through the Manaslu region and our ultimate destination, the Larkya La pass, as we bid farewell to our stay in the enchanted Tsum Valley. The Budhi Gandaki River, our old friend, welcomes us and points us in the direction of Pewa before ascending the steep valley to Deng.
Now our attention refocuses on the trial through Manaslu Region and ultimate goal of Larkya La pass.
